A Church That Is Very Much Alive
In the heart of Lahore, the Church’s presence continues to shine quietly amid the rhythm of daily life. From the crowded streets of the city to the dusty roads of the outskirts, Christian families live and gather in faith, holding fast to hope and community.
A pastoral visit here is not only a time of blessing, but a reminder that faith endures, even under pressure. Many face limited access to employment and financial security because of their Christian faith and values, yet their resilience speaks through their faithful commitment and service.
The Christian Life in Pakistan
On Sundays Christians gather to celebrate a faith they choose anew each day. They leave behind workplaces, chores, and worries, knowing that following Christ can bring misunderstanding, discrimination, and added burdens into their lives. In every gesture of faith, their ‘yes’ is renewed: to belong to Christ, to one another, and to a Church that walks with them in the midst of their daily struggles.
Walking through neighborhoods, suburbs, and village chapels, one witnesses how the sacraments and liturgy form the bond that connects these communities to the universal Catholic Church. They are more than rituals; they are the visible threads weaving local faith into the global body of Christ.
These visits served to renew us, even though our purpose was to serve them; reminding all that the Church is truly alive, rooted in faith, strengthened by love, and steadfast in witness to Christ.
