God builds the house

Mission Update: January - June 2023

Ever since I have been involved in the pastoral missions, it is clear to me that everything is hanging by a thread. From the human aspect, one needs to consider every decision and opportunity that is taken, while at the same time realising the fragility and uncertainty that is part and parcel of every endeavour we embark on. However, knowing that God is in control of everything, as the Maltese Saint George Preca says, “under the providential justice of God”, gives me security in the depths of my heart.

In our missions, we remained consistent and continued strengthening the rapport between the parishes in Valletta. The number of youths attending the centre continued increasing. This fills us with courage to persevere, since the product that we offer the teens is reaching them. Therefore, all that is being done is centred around the teachings of the Gospel and should be received with joy due to its indespendible value.

The activites pass and like everyone else, time passes over us as well. However, the words of our Lord do not pass away with time. “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life”, as we read in the Gospel of Saint John (Jn 6:68). Therefore, we need to remain loyal to the call that the Lord has made to us, and freely give out Jesus’ message of mercy and love to evryone we meet; He provides healing to the wounds in our lives that we inherit due to the lack of love. Whilst continuing our work in service of the Lord, we must remember that all is from Him, with Him and for Him, as there is written in Psalm 127,

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.”
