“Have this mind among yourselves, which was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross.” (Phil. 2:5-8).
The concept behind the foundation name Kenosis came from the scripture verse just read taken from the letter of St Paul to the Philippians. At the centre of this passage is the statement that Christ Jesus “emptied himself.” The Greek term St Paul uses for “emptied” is Kenosis.
This self-emptying in the Incarnation is the ultimate expression of humility in Jesus as a laying aside of His heavenly privilages and chose to “make himself nothing” to save us.
As administrators of Kenosis Foundation we too have to have the mind of Christ freeing ourselves of our pride, our self-love, our passions—and conform our lives to him and serve him according to his will.
Then the inspiration of the Kenosis logo came from the stained glass found in many Catholic Churches. The negative space in the design is reflective the concept of “emptying oneself”, which is the definition of ‘Kenosis’. The logo is then further divided into three parts of a whole to represent the Triune God.
